ACC Nets Big Win Over NCMC
ACC won an exciting five-set volleyball match over visiting North Central Michigan College, 26-24, 22-25, 15-25, 25-20, 15-13 in front of a raucous crowd at Park Arena.
The Lumberjacks had played the Timberwolves twice earlier on the season and came out on the short end, but despite having their backs up against the wall, losing a critical third set, coach Courtney Holmes' squad would not be denied on this evening.
Brooklyn Latuszek led ACC with 20 kills and 17 digs. Rocky Miller had 13 kills and 22 digs. Maddi Sladek had 12 digs, two aces and 39 assists. Paiglee Moldenhauer led the defensive effort with 25 digs. Alivia Freel had a solid night at the net with eight kills and four blocks. ShaeLynn Lance tallied 13 digs.
"Our offense and defense were finally both on at the same time," Holmes said. "We've been trying for that so hard. It was a great team win."
With the victory, the Jacks' first in the MCCAA Northern Conference, their record is now 2-11 overall, 1-6 conference. North Central is now 11-7, 3-4.
ACC plays in the Skippers' Quad in Port Huron this weekend playing Kellogg Community College (12-6) and Glen Oaks Community College (6-13) before returning home next Wednesday, October 15 for another conference matchup against Montcalm Community College (5-14, 1-6).
