Volleyball Opens Season with Win
The ACC volleyball team starting its season and the athletic season for the college in winning fashion, defeating Great Lake Christian, 26-24, 27-25, 20-25, 20-25, 15-6.
"All of the sets were back and forth battles, until dominating in the final set, emphasized by a big game winning kill from Alivia Freel," coach Courtney Holmes said.
Serve reception was led by Brook Latuszek and Rocky Miller's strong play. Defensive play was great with Paige Moldenhauer leading the way with 12 digs, Miller added eight and Latuszek had six.
Maddi Sladek led the way with 25 assists with Miler having a great offensive day with 10 kills. Freel added six and also led the blocking effort with five blocks.
Emma Koroly served up five aces with Sladek chipping in with four, while serving back out of a deficit to a first set win.
"I'm so proud of the team effort," Holmes said. "I'm looking forward to seeing this group grow through the season!"
ACC opens at home next Friday on Aug. 29 hosting Henry Ford Community College at 4:00 p.m.
