Volleyball Gets Big Win at Bay
Eight hour round trip? No big deal. Transportation problems on the way? So what. Facing off against a team you lost to twice earlier this season? No problem.
ACC won their first MCCAA match this season with a clutch 15-25, 25-12, 25-23, 25-21 win at Bay College.
In the pivotal third set, with the teams tied at a set apiece, the Lumberjacks appeared in complete control, with a 22-14 lead. However, the Norse rallied to score eight straight points to tie the set at 22-all. Rather than folding up, ACC took back the momentum and pulled away to a 25-23 win.
In the final set, Bay pulled out to a 12-7 lead before the Jacks rallied with six straight points to take a 13-12 advantage which they never lost. The Norse got as close as 22-20 but couldn't get over the hump as ACC again scored the clutch points late in the set for the victory.
Morgan Krentz led the way with 13 digs, nine kills, four assists and two service aces. Allie Urlaub contributed 12 kills and 14 digs.
Lilly Adams had 12 kills, including many in the key third set, and seven digs. Mallory Donakowski had 27 assists and six kills. Autumn Vermilya had 14 digs.
ACC (1-15 overall, 1-9 MCCAA) closes out the season with away matches next week against North Central Michigan College (Tues., Oct. 17) and Delta College (Thurs., Oct. 19).
