ACC Loses in High Scoring Match
In an exciting game in Benton Harbor, ACC lost 6-4 to Lake Michigan College.
The Red Hawks opened the scoring less than one minute into the game to take a 1-0 advantage. However, the Lumberjacks' Anna Herbolsheimer outran the defense for a breakaway goal after 10 minutes to tie the game at 1-all.
At the 25 minute mark, Abby Platt's goal from 18 yards out gave ACC a 2-1 advantage. Platt was assisted by Jenalee Kotula.
Ten minutes later, Herbolsheimer stole a goal kick and sunk her second goal of the game perfectly into the corner of the net, giving ACC a 3-1 lead. Later in the first half, Herbolsheimer narrowly missed a hat trick as her shot deflected off the goal post. Abby Kindt narrowly missed getting to the rebound.
In the second half of play, Lake Michigan came out hot and within 10 minutes, they tied the score and at the 25 minute mark, they took a 4-3 lead.
The Jacks weren't done, however, as Platt scored off a Reese Dora corner kick to pull even at 4-all.
However, the Red Hawks scored two in the last 15 minutes to pull away for the win.
ACC travels to Grand Rapids Community College to play the Raiders on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
