Community Christian Avenges Earlier Loss to ACC
CENTER LINE, Mich. — A strong fourth-quarter surge lifted Community Christian (Mich.) to a 63–60 victory over Alpena Community College on Saturday afternoon, overcoming a dominant rebounding performance and a 24-point outing from Alpena’s Brooke Portice.
ACC led 32–26 at halftime and entered the fourth quarter up 45–42, but Community Christian closed the game on a 21–15 run, capitalizing on timely scoring and defensive pressure that forced 41 Lumberjack turnovers.
Portice delivered one of the most impressive individual performances of the day, finishing with 24 points, 14 rebounds, and an astounding 16 made free throws on 21 attempts. She anchored the Lumberjacks offensively in the paint and on the glass, helping her team control the boards by a 56–47 margin.
Forward Anna Herbolsheimer tallied eight points and 11 rebounds, while Lillie Maser posted an efficient 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Saige Flaugher scored 12.
Earlier in the week, the Jacks defeated Olivet's JV team, 64-56. Saige Flaugher scored 25 points. Portice had 12 points and 16 rebounds. Elisa Flaugher scored a career-high 11.
ACC (4-4) will look to regroup after a tough road loss at home on Saturday, Dec. 13 as they host Oakland Community College.
