Lady Jacks Get Conference Win
ACC women’s basketball team won their first conference game after winter break with a 59-50 win over visiting Kirtland Community College.
Saige Flaugher led the way with 14 points and five rebounds. Jessie Ross scored 13, including 4 for 7 three-point shooting. Jena Wambold had 10 points and five assists.
Bryce Roy, Kenna Tippman and Cierra Tetz each had team-leading seven rebounds.
Also, in the month of January, ACC lost a tough 53-52 game on a made free throw with one second left on the clock at Detroit Community Christian.
Wambold and Flaugher each had 11 points. Flaugher and Tippman each had six rebounds. Abby Platt and Ross scored eight points apiece.
At Muskegon, the Lumberjacks fell, 100-46. Flaugher and Anna Herbolsheimer were bright spots, with the former scoring 17 and the latter with a double-double effort of 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Wambold led ACC with 13 points and seven rebounds last weekend at Montcalm in a tough, 50-35 loss. The Lumberjacks trailed only 33-29 after three quarters, but the Centurions pulled away in the fourth.
Herbolsheimer had 10 points and nine rebounds. Flaugher posted six points and seven rebounds. Allison Cece had seven rebounds.
The Lady Jacks (2-9 overall, 1-2 conference) have a tough week ahead hosting Bay College (9-8, 2-1) on Wednesday, Jan. 22 and #6 ranked Mid-Michigan College (15-2, 3-0) on Saturday, Jan. 25.
