Tough Day for Lumberjacks on Sophomore Day
Visiting Mid Michigan College put a damper on ACC's sophomore day celebration, defeating the Lumberjacks, 93-24.
Coach Brandon Humphreys started an all-sophomore lineup, but the Lakers were undeterrred, taking a 24-3 lead at the end of the first quarter, and led 46-7 at the half.
Mid-Michigan, ranked #20 in the latest NJCAA Division 2 rankings moved to 24-1 overall, 11-1 conference with the win.
Makayla Kamyszek had eight points and seven rebounds to lead ACC. Allie Urlaub tallied five points and five rebounds.
The Lumberjacks (7-17, 5-8) close the regular season playing at Delta College (6-13, 5-7) on Tuesday, Feb. 27. The winner of the game may claim the final spot from the MCCAA Northern Conference in the NJCAA Region XII tournament.
ACC is currently in 6th place, one-half game behind Delta. However, the Jacks won the earlier meeting between the two teams and have the tiebreaker advantage. The top five teams in the conference claim playoff spots.
