#5 Wallace State Sweeps ACC
February 18, 2026 (Hanceville, AL)
The ACC Lumberjacks softball team faced a tough night on the road Tuesday, falling to one of the best softball programs in the country, Wallace State Community College by scores of 8-0 and 16-0 in a non-conference doubleheader. Wallace State is ranked #5 in the country in NJCAA Division 1 softball. ACC is a Division 2 team.
The Lumberjacks were held to just two hits in the opener as Wallace State's offense came out swinging and never let up, building an 8-0 lead through six innings.
Wallace State struck in every early inning, plating two runs in the first, one in the second, three in the third, one in the fourth, and one more in the sixth. The home team's power was on full display, launching three home runs off starter Jordan Ashley. Ashley worked 5.2 innings and took the loss, giving up eight earned runs on seven hits while walking seven batters.
Offensively, the Lumberjacks were held in check all night. Rilee Tracy and Alaina Neubecker each collected the team's only hits — Tracy with a line drive single in the fourth and Neubecker with a single in the second inning. The Lumberjacks left just three on base and were unable to string anything together against a Wallace State pitching staff that posted six strikeouts and surrendered no earned runs.
The lone bright spot in the field was a clean defensive effort — the Lumberjacks committed zero errors — but with Wallace State's bats this hot, it wasn't enough to keep the game close.
The nightcap was even more difficult. Wallace State erupted for 16 runs on 15 hits in five innings, ending the game via run rule. The Lumberjacks were limited to four hits and couldn't find a way to score against a Wallace State staff that posted five strikeouts and allowed no earned runs.
Wallace State scored in each of the first four innings — three in the first, six in the second, four in the third, and three in the fourth — doing most of the damage with a relentless approach at the plate that included two more home runs and several extra-base hits. ACC starter Allison Whitaker was tagged for seven runs in the first inning before giving way to Jenna Sircely, who allowed nine more over the next three innings. Combined, ACC pitching yielded 15 hits, walked seven, and struggled to find rhythm against Wallace State's deep lineup.
The Lumberjacks showed some fight at the plate. Jordan Ashley went 2-for-2 at third base in the nightcap, and Kirsten Neubecker contributed a single as well. Dakota Rachow also collected a hit for ACC, but the team went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position and left four on base.
The Jacks will look to regroup and bounce back in their next outing today, Feb. 19 against Calhoun Community College in Decatur, AL. Despite the tough results Tuesday night, the team showed resilience with clean defense in the opener and some individual contributions at the plate that provide a foundation to build from going forward.
