Snead State Sweeps ACC
Boaz, Ala. — February 17, 2026
The Snead State Lady Parsons made a statement Tuesday night, sweeping the ACC Lumberjacks in a doubleheader. But while the nightcap turned into a runaway, the opener was something far more dramatic — a tightly contested pitchers' duel that came down to a single swing of the bat.
For five innings, it looked like either team could walk away with a win. Snead State's pitcher was dealing — she worked all seven innings, allowing just one hit while striking out seven and not walking a single batter. But the Lumberjacks were hanging around, and their own pitcher, Jordan Ashley, was keeping the Lady Parsons' bats largely in check despite spotting them a 2-0 lead through three.
Snead State struck first in the second inning, on a fly ball to left with two runners on, plating one to make it 1-0. The Lady Parsons added another run in the third to take a 2-0 advantage.
Still, the Lumberjacks refused to fold. With the score sitting at 2-0 heading into the sixth, ACC mounted several threats only to come up empty against a Sneed pitcher who seemed to get sharper as the game went on. She struck out four batters looking and induced soft contact all evening, finishing with 79 pitches through a complete-game shutout.
The moment that put the game out of reach came in the bottom of the sixth, when the Parsons got a two-run home run to right field, scoring two to push the lead to 4-0. It was the only home run of the game, and it came at exactly the right time. Ashley took the loss, throwing six full innings and allowing four earned runs on six hits.
If Game 1 was a chess match, Game 2 was something else entirely. Snead State came out swinging from the very first inning, scoring three runs in the first and erupting for eight more in the second to put the game well out of reach by the time the Lumberjacks' bats finally woke up.
ACC ran into early trouble, aided in large part by four wild pitches and six errors on the night. The Lady Parsons took advantage of every opportunity, plating 11 of their 12 runs either via error or with two outs, keeping the pressure relentless.
To the Lumberjacks' credit, they didn't quit. Down 12-0 heading into the fifth, ACC put together their best inning of the night — Dakota Rachow singled home two and Kirsten Neubecker doubled in another to make it a 12-3 final before the mercy rule ended the contest after five innings. Rachow was a bright spot for ACC, finishing the nightcap with two RBI to give her three combined across the doubleheader.
ACC (0-6) plays at Wallace State Community College, Hanceville in a doubleheader today, Feb. 18.
