Lumberjacks Continue Alabama Tour
Tanner, AL | February 19, 2026
The ACC Lumberjacks softball team continued their road trip through Alabama on Thursday evening with a road doubleheader against the Calhoun Warhawks, falling in both contests — 11–3 in Game 1 and 19–0 in Game 2 — in a tough introduction to the new campaign.
The Lumberjacks gave themselves a chance in the opener, collecting eight hits and battling back to score three runs in the third inning, but a disastrous eight-run first frame for the Warhawks proved to be too much to overcome. Calhoun erupted immediately, sending 11 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first and scoring eight runs.
ACC showed some life in the third, stringing together three consecutive singles from Magdalyn Sandoval, Dakota Rachow, and Kirsten Neubecker to load the bases. Sandoval and Rachow came around to score, and Autumn Kazyaka — who entered as a pinch runner — added a third run by racing home after the Warhawks' shortstop committed an error. It was a promising moment that kept the game within reach heading into the later innings, but the offense couldn't sustain the pressure.
Offensively, Kirsten Neubecker was the Lumberjacks' most consistent presence, going 2-for-3. Sandoval and Rachow each reached base twice and scored, and Alaina Neubecker drove in ACC's lone RBI. Catcher Reagan Sides and third baseman Rilee Tracy each recorded a hit as well. Jordan Ashley absorbed the loss, allowing 11 runs (8 earned) on 12 hits over 4⅓ innings.
If the first game was difficult, the nightcap was a sobering experience. The Lumberjacks were held hitless by Calhoun's Addi Wilson, who was dominant from the first pitch — striking out seven and facing just 15 batters in a perfect five-inning effort.
Calhoun's offense was relentless, totaling 15 hits, drawing four walks, and adding three more runs via hit batters across four frames.
Defensively, ACC committed four errors that allowed additional Calhoun runners to score, compounding an already difficult night.
The Lumberjacks close out their trip today, Feb. 20, with another doubleheader at Calhoun.
