Softball Goes 3-3 on the Weekend
The ACC softball squad had a solid weekend, winning the first three games of the road trip - defeating Muskegon Community College, 8-2, 7-4 and 11-3 - before running into some tough sledding, losing to Muskegon 17-10 and to Grand Rapids Community College 9-4 and 8-6.
In the Friday doubleheader at Muskegon, Kirsten Neubecker led the way in the opener going 3 for 4 with a home run. Maggie Sandoval singled, doubled and knocked in two runs. Alaina Neubecker also had two RBI. Dakota Rachow also had two hits and a stolen base. Taylor Krentz threw a complete game win, striking out three in seven innings.
Kirsten Neubecker stayed hot in the second game, doubling and homering and driving in four runs. She also walked twice. Emilee Modrzejewski had three hits and scored two runs. Faith Cousins had two hits and two RBI. Sandoval again had two hits. Jordan Ashley was the winning pitcher, striking out three in seven innings.
The Lumberjacks battled GRCC, the leader in the standings for the MCCAA North, leading 2-0 early in the opening game and leading 6-3 after four innings in the nightcap, but the Raiders were too much.
Modrzejewski had another three hit game in the opener. Sydney Hitzelberger doubled and had two RBI. In game two, Hitzelberger had two hits as did Alaina Neubecker who doubled, tripled and had four RBI. Ashley had two singles. Rachow scored twice.
ACC (7-15 overall, 4-9 conference) plays Bay College (0-10, 0-9) this weekend in a four-game series.
