ACC softball opens conference play
ACC opened the MCCAA Northern Conference softball season with one win in a four-game series at Mid-Michigan College.
The Lumberjacks held a lead in game one, but lost late, 8-4, then lost two blowouts by identical 16-0 scores, then salvaged a win in game four with a 6-5 victory.
Kenna Tippman led the charge in the win, with two hits, including a towering home run over the centerfield scoreboard. Makayla Kamyszek picked up the win, giving only one earned run and striking out two in a complete game seven inning performance.
Rhea Amrich had two hits, including a double and scored two runs.
For the series, Amrich led the Jacks with five hits in 11 at bats and three RBI. Femke Van Elsacker was 4 for 7 with two doubles. Tippman and Elizabeth Romel also each had four hits.
ACC (2-9 overall, 1-3 conference) plays at Delta College next Friday and Saturday.
