ACC Loses Two at Roundball Classic
It was a rough weekend on the court for the ACC men's basketball team as the Lumberjacks lost twice, to Lakeland Community College (OH), 120-70 and to host Mott Community College, 75-46.
Against Lakeland, the Jacks ran up against a buzzsaw as the Lakers shot a blistering 65% in the first half en route to a 61-29 lead. For the game Lakeland made 58.8% of their shots, including 40% (10 for 25) from behind the three-point line. ACC shot only 35.7% and 11% (3 for 27) from three. The Lakers won the rebounding battle, 50-25.
Derian Williams scored 16 points and Keyondre Gamez 10 to lead the Lumberjacks.
Chas Stanek scored 18 to lead all scorers in the game against Mott. He also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.
Robert Williams had 13 points in the return to his hometown of Flint. Nick Fileccia contributed five points and eight rebounds.
Both Lakeland (8-4) and Mott (9-3) won both of their games in the Mott Roundball Classic, defeating Muskegon Community College as well as ACC.
The Lumberjacks (1-7) return to play at Detroit Community Christian on Saturday, Jan. 4.
