ACC Swept at Snead
Boaz, Ala. — February 17, 2026
The Snead State Parsons kept the momentum rolling Tuesday night, sweeping Alpena Community College (ACC) in a doubleheader to move to 6-3 on the season. The Parsons were explosive from the first pitch, putting up crooked numbers early and never looking back in either contest as ACC fell to 0-6 on the year.
If there was any doubt about how the night would go, Snead State erased it in a hurry. The Parsons sent ten batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning, scoring seven runs without the benefit of a single extra-base hit. By the time the dust settled, Snead State had pushed across seven runs on two hits, three walks and a two-run error.
The Parsons weren't done. They tacked on three more in the second and four in the third to put the game firmly out of reach at 14-0 before the mercy rule ended things after five innings with a final score of 14-2. The only suspense late was whether ACC could avoid the shutout, and they managed to scratch across a run in the third when Aiden Bishop scored on a bases-loaded walk, then added another in the fourth on an error. But Snead State's pitching staff was never seriously threatened.
Wesley Bennatts threw a scoreless inning of relief for the Jacks. Bishop and Nate Gould each singled and scored.
In the nightcap, Snead State piled up 11 runs on 10 hits and jumped ahead 11-1 through three innings before holding on as ACC made some noise late.
ACC did mount a late push. JJ Salas led off the third inning with a solo home run to break up the shutout, and the Lumberjacks rallied for three runs in the fifth on the strength of back-to-back doubles from Abel Walkotten and Maxwell McCarty, plus a pair of RBI singles from Kaden Benaske and Luke Lovelace. They tacked on one more in the seventh to make the final 11-5, but it was never a serious threat to Snead State's lead.
Ethan Bergstein threw three shutout innings to close out the game for the Jacks. McCarty had two doubles in the game and Benaske knocked in two runs.
For ACC, the 0-6 start has been a rough introduction to the season, and the errors that plagued both ends of Tuesday's doubleheader will need to be cleaned up in a hurry if the Lumberjacks hope to turn things around. They'll get a chance to do so quickly with a doubleheader today, Feb. 18, at Wallace State Community College - Hanceville.
