Baseball Has Big Day at Plate
Alpena Community College raised their fall record to 6-3-1 with a win and tie in Adrian, MI against Siena Heights.
The Lumberjacks won game one, 14-5 and tied in game two, 10-10 - scoring 24 runs on 25 hits on the day.
In the opener, Max McCarty's second-inning grand slam broke the game open. McCarty had two hits and four RBI. Brett Moroschan, Kaden Benaske, Brendan DiBartolomeo, Kaleb Donajkowski and Anthony Filippis all had two hits.
Aidan Bishop, Benaske, Jake Zann and Filippis scored two runs each. DiBartolomeo had three RBI and Donajkowski drove in two. Moroschan, Zann, Donajkowski and Benaske all had extra base hits.
On the mound, Grant Slater picked up the win, throwing five innings, yielding only two earned runs on six hits.
Game two ended in a tie after seven innings. McCarty again had two hits, including a triple. Evan Fairbanks had two hits, three RBI and a long home run. Fillppis had another two hit game and plated two runs. Nate Koster had a double and two RBI.
ACC hosts Bay College tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 21 in a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m. and then travels to play Aquinas College in Grand Rapids on Sunday, Sept. 22.
