Lumberjacks Sweep Fall Opener
ACC Wins at Home
The ACC Lumberjacks opened their fall baseball schedule with a 12-0, 14-7 sweep over visiting Community Christian College (Detroit) in front of a sizable crowd at Veteran's Field in Ossineke.
In the opener, the Jacks pounded out 13 hits including three by Gage Kangas and Anthony Filippis. Kangas also drove in three runs. Eric Rogers had two hits, two runs scored and two RBI. Caleb Stuck singled, drove in two and scored twice.
Five ACC pitchers combined on the four-hit shutout. Brandon Maddox and Grant Slater each threw two shutout innings, while Aaron Guitar, Max Ferrin and Tristan Simrau each threw one.
Game two was more of the same as the Lumberjacks scored in the first five innings. Stuck had two more hits, including a double, scored twice and had two RBI. Kangas also stayed hot with two more hits and scored twice.
Evan Fairbanks tripled and drove in three runs. Matt Thompson had two hits and scored three times. Nathan Valdivia singled twice and drove in two.
Wyatt Crawford started and threw a shutout inning. Brock Wing threw two shutout innings and Mason Blumke pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to close out the win.
ACC is back in action next Friday at Bay College before returning home on Saturday to host high school travel team Lakes Area Dodgers.
