ACC Drops Series Finale in Ohio
In a tale of two games - ACC lost the series finale against Owens Community College, 19-4.
The Lumberjacks dominated early, loading the bases in the top of the first but were unable to plate a run. Hunter Kosmerick mowed the Express down in the bottom of the first in a 1-2-3 inning that included two strikeouts. In the top of the second, ACC plated three runs on singles by Brett Moroschan, Charles Swanson and a home run by Nate Koster.
Then a snow delay was called as heavy snow made it difficult for players and umpires to see the ball.
After the delay, Owens looked like a different team, blowing the game open scoring two in the second, four in the third, five in the fourth, six in the fifth and two in the sixth.
"They (Owens) hit the ball very well," coach Rob Enslen said. "But we didn't help ourselves leaving so many runners on base (11) including leaving the bases loaded three times in the first five innings of the game."
Moroschan was 3 for 3 at the plate. Koster had two hits and two RBI.
Kosmerick took the loss, despite striking out six in three innings. Logan Geitman struck out two in two innings of relief.
All of the five games over the weekend were played at Sports Force Park in Sandusky. The Lumberjacks (1-4) were scheduled to play at Community Christian College in Detroit today, however, the game was cancelled due to weather and field conditions. ACC plays two tomorrow at Siena Heights against their JV squad.
